WORLD FILM PREMIERE – Maserati: A Hundred Years Against All Odds

Since its founding on December 1914, in Bologna, Italy, the Maserati brand has always stood by its tagline “Luxury, sports and style cast in exclusive cars.” We are pleased to bring its story to the Simeone for a special one-night screening of “Maserati – A Hundred Years Against All Odds” on Thursday, October 18 at 7:00 PM.

This is the first-ever comprehensive film that has been made about the marque and history of the iconic Maserati brand and includes never-before-seen rare and archival historic footage and has rarely been screened. Part of the evening will include a conversation and discussion with the film’s producer and director Philip Selkirk and Luca Dal Monte, who was previously the director of marketing, PR and press forMaserati worldwide.

The “Società Anonima Officine Alfieri Maserati” was founded almost a hundred years ago – in 1914 in Bologna by the five Maserati brothers Alfieri, Bindo, Carlo, Ettore and Ernesto.

And so began a fascinating story, which has lasted up until today, and is made up of fascinating high-performance road cars and laudable successes in the world of motor racing.

In the multi-form and prolific activities of Maserati, ranging from single seater Grand Prix cars to sports and road cars, many of the trident’s masterpieces have left their indelible mark on the story of motor sport on four wheels.

With our film documentary, we will – on the occasion of the upcoming finale of the centenary – present the impressive legacy with the most important milestones of the brand Maserati – the cars, the quality and the special features – by means of implementing “facts & figures”, historical and current stories and by blending technical information with driving impressions and anecdotes.

The selection of models featured in the film, many of which are extremely rare and/or unique, tell the complete story of the long sporting pedigree of the celebrated Modena factory. However, we will stress the strengths and virtues not only of the classics but also of the contemporary brand.

Apart from the work with archives and the film material of today including interviews with important representatives and protagonists from the company, experts such as from the car manufacturer itself as well as from the Panini Museum and other collections – i.e. the Riverside Museum in California – engineers, designers, international collectors, aficionados etc. we attended a number of events in 2014 such as the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the Mille Miglia, Donington and others.

The most stunning development in movies in recent decades is the surging popularity of the film documentary.

It is the perfect tool to transport and communicate the philosophy and history of Maserati with all its valuable exhibits.

With our documentary on “Maserati – 100 Years Against All Odds” the Maserati brand with its many facets is brought closer to the international audience – an audience that we wish to captivate by providing facts and figures but also lots of entertaining material in connection with Maserati.

Thus, the innovative and dynamic character of the Maserati brand is captured on film.

At the same time, this film will be informative – but must not become too technical, as it should be accessible and understandable to as many viewers as possible. Even those who are not highly interested in the technical side of cars, we may fascinate by working with the aspect of design. Many people consider the car – quite appropriately – as a work of art, not only as a mere commodity and means of transport.

Evidently, Maserati very much has a major advantage over other car brands – the great diversity – namely the “roller coaster” history and its associated milestones that act as protagonists in the film.

We build bridges between Maserati’s past and heritage to today’s brand with the contemporary witnesses that can tell us about the different chapters of the House of the Trident.
