Born in 1916 in Barnesville, Georgia, Louis Smith raced from 1945 to 1956 with 38 victories. She was the first woman to race on Daytona Beach and helped Bill France Sr. promote the early NASCAR races. In 1999, they inducted Smith into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
