Over 30 classic motorcycles, including more than a dozen vintage Harley-Davidsons, will be on display from August 8 to September 9, 2009, at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in southwest Philadelphia. The motorcycles on display include an 1896 Spiral, the oldest motorcycle in the United States and the first ever built in this country. The month-long Motorcycle Show will kick off with a “Kick-Start Preview Party” presented by Hagerty Insurance, Friday August 7, from 6 PM to 9 PM. Admission to the Preview party is $25 per person and includes food by Carlino’s Catering and beverages from Victory Brewing Company. Honorary chairman for the Preview will be Al Wilcox, a 90-year old former factory Harley-Davidson rider who raced at Daytona back in the days when races were run on the beach. He has been nominated for the American Motorcycle Association Hall Of Fame. The show incorporates a collection of rare motorcycle posters and artwork assembled by Michael Casale. Eight large metallic prints by noted photo artist Dawn Deppi showcasing the beauty of motorcycles will also be on display.
