Become a Volunteer
Volunteers at the Simeone Museum come from all ages and all walks of life. We have a diverse group of dedicated volunteers that are the lifeblood of the museum and help make this place great. There’s always something to do here, so if you’re looking to get out and be active, we’d love to have you as a part of our team.
The camaraderie and atmosphere are simply fantastic. The cars are pretty nice too. So if you are retired, just bored, stuck in the house, or maybe you just need a change of scenery, maybe this is the place for you. We are especially in need of Volunteers with Tradesman experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc. Get your your hands dirty for a good cause!
Here are just a few stories from our Volunteers:
Hi, my name is Bill Sinclair and I have been a volunteer at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum since 2009. I worked for many years in center city Philadelphia and was able to retire in 2008. After several months of being totally bored with retirement I discovered the Simeone Automotive Museum. After just one visit to the museum I was hooked. In fact, the day after my first visit I submitted my Volunteer Application.
If you’re a car buff, gearhead, racing enthusiast, history junkie, or just a people person, then the Simeone Museum is the place to be. Personally, I enjoy the fascinating stories that are connected to each and every vehicle in the collection. My favorite car in the collection is the 1964 Cobra Daytona Coupe. Well beyond the design and technical aspects of this car are the myriad of stories related to it. Some of the stories are exhilarating, some are tragic, some are funny, but they are all interesting, and I thoroughly enjoy retelling those stories every chance that I get.
As an added bonus for volunteering, I have met some truly incredible people and have made many dear friends for life. For me, volunteering at the Simeone Museum has been an exciting, inspiring, educational, rewarding and extremely satisfying experience.
My name is Frank Morrone and I’m 71 years young, from Wallingford PA. I’ve been a volunteer at the Simeone Museum for 3 years. I joined the museum because I love the atmosphere, the events, and all the cars. Some of my favorite things are attending the events and interacting with many of the people who come to the museum. When I’m here, it makes me feel like I am somewhere special. Some of my favorite cars in the collection are the Italian race cars. I’m particularly attracted to them!
I joined the museum because I’m fascinated with all things automotive. I’m particularly fond of all makes, models, and years of sports cars. I also have a great appreciation of custom cars, and antique cars, again all makes, models, and years.. I was amazed the first time I visited the museum and never tire of looking at the cars on each visit. Becoming a volunteer has enabled me to get closer to and learn more about the cars.
My favorite thing about the museum is the basic theme of racing sports cars, cars developed for the street and then used for racing. I also appreciate the philosophy of preservation, as opposed to restoration. I feel great when working at the museum, particularly answering questions from and chatting with guests. I always enjoy and look forward to each visit and particularly learning more about the cars.
As a special thank you to all volunteers who work 8 hours at the Museum, we will be giving you a free volunteer family membership for one year. The membership includes discounted admission and gift shop merchandise, plus a Simeone Museum t-shirt and program – a $150 value. We’ll even give you a personalized name badge if you behave yourself!
We rely on our Volunteers to help staff the Museum during peak hours. We especially need help for the following:
Weekends: Welcoming, admissions desk, gift shop
Demonstration Days: Parking, admissions desk, gift shop
Special Events: Parking, welcoming, exhibit information
